INDIA’S ACE ATHELET AND ARJUNAWARD WINNER 2009
Ms.SINIMOL PAULOSE
IS A PRODUCT OFMAHATMA GANDHI PUBLIC SCHOOL,AMBADIMALA
Born on 24.06.1983
She joined MGP School Ambadimala in class VII in 1995 from KV Mumbai.
Initially she was interested in dance and not athletics. It was Amarnath MM ,the physical education teacher and coach of MGP school ,who picked up and trained her to be on the track. She could not be what she is now but for the dedication, determination and total support of her father Mr. Paulose. By the time she completed her 12th in 2001,she had become a dominant athlete of our country. We were always observing Sinimol reaching further heights…

Sinimol’s coach looks back with fulfillment ;AMARNATH MM
(an article by Krishnakumar K H )

"She had a sprightly gait and I felt she had something in her that could be harnessed on the track," said Amarnath, who trained the athlete from 1997 to 2000 during her formative years. It was Amarnath’s first job as a trainer and Sinimol had joined the school two years earlier in standard seven after having studied at the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Mumbai before.
"During the initial trials to pick a team for the state CBSE athletics meet, I noticed KOCHI: With Sinimol Paulose pretty much certain to be honoured with the Arjuna Award in athletics, her early coach Amarnath M M is overwhelmed by fulfillment.
The Sinimol story began twelve years ago when the physical education teacher at the
M G P School, Chottanikkara, found that the wiry ninth standard student had the physique, confidence and the stamina to set an athletics track ablaze.
that she ran in bursts, varying her speed as she made ten rounds of the school ground. There I decided that she was best suited for the middle distance events," recalled the coach with fondness. The next day, he asked Sinimol to make 20 rounds taking a break after ten rounds. But she said she would run the full distance at one go. "To me, that was a sign of confidence, and I knew she would make it big," he said.
The coach and disciple planned in detail to improve Sinimol.
"She has developed according to those plans. I still have a graph depicting her performance and progress in those four years," Amarnath said.
It was a twist of fate that this coach went unnoticed, for Sinimol won a bronze in 800m at the Asian Junior championship in 2001 just three months after passing out of the school, by which time she had become a trainee at the Sports Authority of India centre in Thrissur. "If the Asian meet had been held three months earlier, our school would have got full credit for having unearthed a star," he said, also recalling with gratitude the support and encouragement offered by the school management and the principal Molly Sleeba.
Amarnath believes Sinimol has it in her to win the gold medal in the Asian Games, if not in the Olympics. "She is not the most gifted athlete but is very hardworking. Given her work ethic, she has every chance of winning a gold medal in the 1500m in the next Asian Games."

All the Principals ....
Subject: CBSE Inter School Sports & Games Programme 2007-2008 reg.

It is pleasure to note that when today the Govt. of India is thriving for the promotion of sports at grass root level, the CBSE is shouldering the responsibilities by way of providing a platform for the school children for various sporting competitions. The CBSE is a ‘Sports Nursery’ in true sense and is determined to produce better and talented sports persons for the nation. The Bronze Medal won by Ms Sinimol Paulose, who is a product of CBSE Inter School Sports & Games Programme, at recently held Doha Asian Games is a clear indication that the performances of the CBSE athletes can be compared to the events organized by the other recognized sports bodies in the country. I would like to convey my sincere thanks to all the Heads of the schools affiliated to the Board for the support being provided for the success of the CBSE Inter School Sports & Games Programme………...
